Heartbreaking updates out of Manitoba as the @mbndp & @pcmanitoba cannot put saving lives ahead of political gain. One more day to do the right thing b4 #KeirasLaw dies on the order paper 😩 Thank you @KatrinaAClarke for covering this issue! #Mbpoli winnipegfreepress.com/breakingnews/2…

I’ve encountered this numerous times. In one example an abusive parent was obstructing life saving care where the child could have died from an acute issue. It also can come in other variations. It isn’t given nearly enough attention. It ought to be a giant red flag.

The Doctor Dad Complex ™️ is a very often ignored part of co-parenting with an abuser. He'll use his parental rights to force medical neglect of the child. Then he'll gaslight the family court about it. If you've seen this, you'll know what I'm talking about. Here's what happens:

Very shameful @mbndp It’s a bipartisan issue throughout Canada. It’s very concerning when one party does not want to support a bill simply because a competing party brings it. It’s not too late to course correct.

Shamefully, @mbndp is now blocking the movement of #Keira’sLaw through their legislature despite best efforts of advocates, survivors & MLAs @nahannifontaine @WabKinew this is unacceptable! Please bring #Keiraslaw to 3rd reading. Kids’ lives depend on it! winnipegfreepress.com/breakingnews/2…

After the murder of her daughter, Dr. Jennifer Kagan became an advocate for judges considering domestic violence in their rulings, resulting in Keira's Law. She was honoured by the Federation of Medical Women of Canada. cbc.ca/news/politics/… via @forlittlekeira @FMWCanada

So happy to be in the room when @forlittlekeira was recognized by @FMWCanada for her fierce #Advocacy and #Leadership. #inspirational #WomenInMedicine

A very alarming, but not too surprising report. Query why there had to be a deep dive to get the info as opposed to the agencies voluntarily reporting and modifying. Look into whether there is a culture of denial and burying the ineffectiveness (and negligence) of the agencies.

NEW: Data shows that, on average, a child involved with Ontario’s care system dies every three days. The majority of those deaths are in kids who are on the radar of children’s aid but have not been formally taken into care. #Onpoli globalnews.ca/news/10735101/…

Truly incredible MP who has made a difference in so many lives! Thank you MP @PamDamoff for being the driving force on #KeirasLaw- you are so very much appreciated by so many. This is a huge loss for Canadians but your decision is understandable.

Stoked to have my work on myths and stereotypes about IPV cited by the British Columbia Court of Appeal. The myth that false allegations of IPV are made to gain an upper hand in family law disputes is all too pervasive. bccourts.ca/jdb-txt/ca/24/…

Also noteworthy that Professor @JenniferKoshan was referenced in the Appeal decision at para 110 for her published work: “Challenging Myths and Stereotypes in Domestic Violence Cases” (2023) 35:1 Can J of Fam L 33X.

The Court allowed an appeal from a final parenting order that provided the father with equal and unsupervised parenting time, finding the trial judge failed to conduct a proper analysis of the mother's allegations of family violence. bccourts.ca/jdb-txt/ca/24/…
