On this day in 2006, Prince was inducted into the UK Music Hall of Fame. He has 22 top 10 UK albums, including five No. 1 albums. He was named the International Artist of the Year by the @BRITs on five occasions, the most of any artist.


In a 1999 interview with Heat, Prince, who was named after his father's stage name, spoke about the names his sister, Tyka, gave her sons. "My sister named her son President. She named her other son Sir, so people have to say Sir to him. You know, because he's a black child."

On this day in 2001, Prince released "The Rainbow Children" as a single untracked mp3 file through the NPG Music Club. This was the first album of new music that Prince released under his own name since changing his name back from the symbol to Prince in the previous year.
