Still processing the events of yesterday. Absolutely in awe of my colleagues 💙 felt so vulnerable at times myself with inadequate PPE for such disorder. Avoiding glass bottles and other items. Significant damage to a traffic car. But I got home safely unlike some colleagues.

What a week exploring the Yorkshire Dales. 70km on foot in four days along with a few hundred miles in the motor. Home really is where the heart is. Never underestimate what’s on your doorstep. #Yorkshire

First shift back on the cars in over six weeks. First car stopped, 121mph on a dual carriageway. No licence and no insurance. See you at court. 😤🤯

Advanced motorcycle course passed. Five weeks with 4.5k miles covered. Now currently enjoying a sunny weekend before I return to shift tomorrow. 🏍️👮🏻‍♂️

Nothing like a start to the shift when the SMV you’re actively looking for drifts out of the junction in front of you. Sadly, had to abort due to the risk but a team effort has seen it recovered with some strong enquiries to follow up. The occupant clearly not that savvy.

NYD walk just had to be done. Lovely day for it. Such a contrast in comparison to today.

Many highs this year but sadly many lows too. Work has brought some challenges. But we plod on. Currently on duty until 0300 hours. Wishing everyone a safe and enjoyable New Year’s Eve. And all the best for 2024.

Wishing everyone a Merry Xmas, I finished on the roads in the early hours of this morning with a drink driver, sadly. I’ve spent the most amazing day with my baby girl who is fast asleep and I’m currently, for some reason, still tracking Santa 🤦🏻‍♂️😂 All the best! 🎅🏻🎄❄️🍻

I’ve learned a lot of things in policing… one of them is not to become a member of the RAC. Genuinely feel for road users who are failed by their services. Other well known national recovery agents are available and at times are just as bad 🤦🏻‍♂️

10:00am - van in front struggling to stay in lane; pulls along side it, driver not wearing seatbelt. Driver proceeds to put hand out of window, signalling a siren with his hands. Pull’s vehicle over. Driver blows 60ug/l. Sadly, some people won’t be getting their parcels today 🤦🏻‍♂️

A rest day well spent with my baby girl who turns four tomorrow. Presents galore with a tea party to boot. She’s growing up too fast and my house suddenly feels empty. Earlies tomorrow!

I’m just sat pondering after my night shift whether I’ll ever be able to wake up from it and not have the urge to demolish a packet of Viennese whirls and Tunnock tea cakes. 🤦🏻‍♂️😂

I’m having a real tough week of it, honestly. 😅

Some days I have no words. Licence less than six months. Thought he was doing 80mph. Words fail me.

I’ve done four death messages to families who have lost loved ones as a result of RTCs in just a 24 hour period… this will always be the hardest part of my job. An extremely busy set of shifts for me and my colleagues and our rest days have been earned more than ever.

Been a tad quiet on here of late but still milling around in the background. I’ve just completed my first set back after a break in Tenerife which was long overdue and now back to taking dangerous drivers off the road. Here’s a snap of the unmarked from my last shift 🤌🏼 #staysafe

Probably best not to travel at 114mph overtaking an unmarked police car whilst you’re on your way home from a night shift, just because you’re “tired” 🙈. Driver reported to the courts.

Four early turns complete. Mainly spent in my role as a Family Liaison Officer, supporting two separate families who have lost a loved one due to Road Traffic Collisions. Never take for granted the time you have with your loved ones!

Back to back motorists dealt with on the motorway network within a space of 60 minutes… ❌ 105 ❌ 98 ❌ 99 All dealt with and referred to the courts. #SlowDownSaveLives

And just like that it’s another set of rest days… they come as quick as they go! 🍻
