In the end, when self-employed women like Chiamaka take care of themselves, they're not just looking out for their own well-being; they're also looking out for their children's wellbeing and setting their businesses up for success.
Self-employed women need to start making self-care a priority. It's not about making huge changes; even positive self-talk, engaging with the community, or taking small breaks can really make a difference.
There is cultural pressure on mothers in sub-Saharan Africa to prioritize childcare, sometimes to the detriment of their wellbeing. Studies have also shown that this strain of combining work and childcare can significantly impact a woman's well-being.
Chiamaka has been feeling overwhelmed lately. Every day, she is at the market, selling foodstuff, and then back home to her kids. She hardly gets time to herself, to relax or recharge. This is affecting her work. @WomenRISE6
