Very proud to see our students and staff marching in London for clean water, @christiandunn. And with an imaginative and powerful Winnie-the-pooh message!
I know it’s Halloween, @duolingo, but parsnips are not the colourful vegetable that you are meant to dress up as? #pumpkin
Such a pleasure to spend a week on #SAbrainhack2024 in South Africa. And with some spare time to produce little sketches of @StephForkel and @MichelTdS.
It is sometimes easy to become disillusioned in academia, but people like this and meetings like this make it all worth it! Building a global vision together for neuroscience equity and innovation at #SABrainhack!
South African game reserves have all the best signs!
Wonderful to host today’s unveiling of our new portrait, of the Thodays. An amazing @BangorUni scientific couple, from a century ago. They were innovative in plant physiology, and are immortalised here by our portrait artist Meinir Mathias.
Last day of our Visceral Mind summer school. I can’t tweet any pictures of our dissected brains (it would be a violation of the Human Tissue Act). Instead, today’s drawings! Such a privilege to talk about the most complicated thing in the universe to motivated young people.
The first day of our @VisceralMind1 brain dissection summer school. Afterwards, I took our students on a tour of @BangorUni architecture and art collection. Another wonderful connection between art and (neuro)anatomy.
As a new and enthusiastic speaker of Cymraeg, the Welsh language… can I please nominate Thomas Bach as the wittiest ever name of an Olympic official.
Amazing to see my friend Steven Spielberg at our annual conference. We haven’t met up for two years. And terrific to discover that he is a big fan of our little book! #NPSA #neuropsychology
33 years since we first discovered that Luria’s best known book, The Working Brain, was ‘missing’ a chapter on emotion. We found all the parts, and this week publish them, reunited in English after 50 years! Thank you #Cortex #neuropsychology
Yesterday I was able to collect the African leg of wetlands mud data for @christiandunn. He wanted me to locate it with the ‘what3words’ app. Instead, my phone logged it by taking a picture from outer space… Are these the geolocation data you needed, Christian?
For those worried about @christiandunn saying that wetland snakes aren’t dangerous… this is not my swollen hand after a bite! It’s a prickly pear fruit. The fruit that the cheerful bear sings about in The Jungle Book. And (sorry Christian) I’m a long way from a wetland!
I’ve been working with @christiandunn to collect wetlands material to analyse on my trip to the bottom of Africa. And the local golf course has impressive wetlands! But I discovered today that they also have these snake-themed signs at the edge of the rough…
My ‘charismatic megafauna’ journey at the bottom of Africa continues. Today in Gansbaai (Goose bay), home of cage diving. Lunch at the impressively-entitled ‘Great White House’. A good stand-up comedian could get 10 minutes of laughter and pointed satire out of that title…
Finally made it back to the bottom of Africa. Idyllic whale-spotting territory… and the Southern Right Pub is definitely the right pub!

Cyhydnos hapus! Happy equinox! A nice Latin-Welsh moment, I think? Nos=nox=night. Hyd=length (as in ‘Yma o hyd’=here of long). And Cyf=equal=cyfartal. So, In Latin, Welsh and English… Happy ‘equal length night’!
TONIGHT: Bestselling author, poet, and Emmy-winning producer @KwameAlexander is here!
Dear @duolingo, you clearly have inside information not available to those of us who watch the news, or are aware of UK legislation on the duration of Parliament… Which cryptic insights are in the next module?
