Our traditional SGA student field trip. This year in Karelia: komatiites, mesoarchean weathering mantle, paleoproterozoic rocks with strong positive 13C anomaly, variolites, PGE deposit and mind-blowing shungite. Thanks to colleagues from KarSciCenter for guiding us!

The first for our student @SergejGavr30621 Arctic Expedition has started! Looking forward for a new set of samples for the Noble Gas studies. Good luck for the TTR-23 team and the crew of the “Akademik Boris Petrov” research vessel

When going through the old archive box in the lab, was lucky to found an old notebook of Prof. Gerling. Seems to be the first notes on the possibility of the K-Ar dating of minerals dated 28 May 1947

Another new example of (U-Th)/He dating of pyrite and the first detailed description of the Paleozoic epithermal mineralization in the Western part of the Altay-Sayan Folded Area (northern part of Central Asian Folded Belt) Congrats @so_lidok @leibna mdpi.com/2075-163X/14/7…

One more example of the successful application of (U,Th)-He method for dating pyrite, and geochronological evidence for presence of pre-ore stratiform mineralization in the host volcanosedimentary rocks. Well done, @ekate_sergeevna escjournal.spbu.ru/article/view/1…

Publishing open access in Elsevier journals might cause serve problems for Russian scientists. Any form of financial support to Ukraine from the rus passport holders is considered as a criminal case in Russia. Be aware!

The oldest wall version of periodic table of elements. It was installed upon the request of D. Mendeleev in the Large Chemical Auditorium, Saint-Petersburg University in 1876. Notably it doesn’t have the VIII group, as the noble gases were not yet discovered

It is the first Finnigan MS in the Soviet Union. It was taken to the Institute of Precambrian Geology and Geochronology (IPGG) RAS right from the international Expo that took place at Leningrad in 1986. That was a big thing

The manuscript (1938) which describes the set for measurements of microquantities of He. In 1941 the instrument was used for (U,Th)-He dating of 2–3 mm size grains of Perovskite from the Afrikanda deposit. The age 358–385 Ma corresponds to its modern age estimations (375±5 Ma)
