It's why we do Prognosis Ohio. Spotlight the talent and promise while making sure people understand the root causes of poor health and disparity in our state.
It's the perennial tragedy of Ohio. A state of tremendous talent and promise--both of which are routinely squandered by a core group of cynical, pandering policymakers who crowd out the committed public servants who really care.

Shout out to everybody attending the @AHCJ summit on reporting violence as a public heath issue. I was an author on a piece on the need for journalistic reframing of issues (e.g. violence) to highlight the social determinants of health. (Will send PDF!) pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/35130813/
I'm pinching myself. So lucky to be collaborating with such an amazing organization in Ohio. I'm really looking forward to building this show up. THERE IS SO MUCH WORK TO DO IN OHIO.

I finally got around to reading this stunning synthesis of the death of democracy in Ohio. It's well worth your time. State Legislatures Are Torching Democracy newyorker.com/magazine/2022/… via @NewYorker
One highlight of my past four days in West Virginia was getting to hear Jan Rader, hero advocate in the state’s opioid crisis, speak about how to persist in dark times.
Vance's non-profit was a scam from the beginning. Never did anything to address addiction in Ohio, and never planned to. Ohioans should reject Vance for exploiting a tragic issue for political gain. apnews.com/article/2022-m…

Telltale signs of rampant addiction are everywhere in Ohio. Kudos to the employees at @cincylibrary for being patient and kind to the many library patrons dealing with incredible challenges. Libraries are one of our few remaining public safe spaces.
Never seen hard data on it, but I guarantee you that American libraries have saved hundreds of thousands of lives just by being cool, safe, and welcoming spaces.
It is HOT out this week, and the forecast calls for highs in the upper 90s! Stop by any of our 23 air-conditioned locations to cool down and enjoy our spaces!
Gov. Mike DeWine says no parts of Ohio have been spared from the opioid epidemic. Yet, perhaps no region has been hit harder than southern Ohio. athensmessenger.com/news/regional-…
