Did you know that our brains can process 400-500 words per minute and that we speak at an average rate of 100-150 words per minute? Active listening is not something that comes naturally. What happens with the "extra" time b/w is said and what our brains are able to process?

In school, we’re taught how to better communicators when it comes to speaking but not always how to be an active listener. How to pause and listen with intention. And not getting ready for our response What tips do you have for being a better listener?

It's frustrating to send an email, expect a response, and then...crickets Then reach out again...more crickets While you may be in someone else's inbox, it doesn't mean they'll respond How have you adjusted your message/subject to get a response from a colleague or supervisor?

Words like: -Just -Sorry -Think take away from your message. They can come across as questioning and as a lack of confidence. Try searching in old emails to see how often they came up for you

I like to take action & sometimes it's b/c I'm uncomfortable But when this happens, I can skip collecting the information I need This is called- action bias By listening, asking questions & collecting information, intentional action occurs. And that's when the magic happens
