Wisdom from Robert Louis Stevenson (b otd 1850): You can give without loving, but you can never love without giving. An aim in life is the only fortune worth finding. A friend is a gift you give yourself. That man is a success who has lived well, laughed often and loved much.

We celebrate the life and work of Benjamin Luxon, the first Owen Wingrave on TV & LP recording, who died a week ago. A magnificent interpreter of Britten’s music.

We're opening the Archive today for a special one-day-only Britten's Birthday exhibition, so do come if you can make it!

Benjamin Britten b. OTD 1913. Even at 18 he seldom took time off from composing, as his diary entry about scoring his ballet Plymouth Town attests.

It takes a village 💪 There are over 100 cast and crew involved in #ENOPeterGrimes with some of the largest set changes in theatre. This quick set change happens in under 6 mins and in complete silence while the audience experiences one of Britten’s spinetingling sea interludes.
