Enjoyed #2 of @tejucole's Clarendon Lectures - this time about the poet W.S. Merwin, who, Prof Cole suggests in a great phrase, aimed 'to deprive the poem of its sturdiness'. These lectures are proving the great value of paying close & sustained attention to poems like these.
