Butter somebody up : to say nice things to someone so that they will do what you want. Example Sentence: Don’t think you can butter me up that easily.


Finicky : it means being very particular or fussy about details; someone who is hard to please. Example sentence: The chef was finicky about the ingredients he used, insisting on only the freshest produce.


Remiss : it means failing to fulfill a duty or responsibility; being careless or negligent. Example sentence: He was remiss in not replying to the important emails on time.


Ad rem : it is a Latin phrase meaning "to the matter" or "to the point." It refers to comments or arguments that are relevant to the topic at hand. Example sentence: Her ad rem remarks during the meeting helped clarify the key issues we needed to address.


Druthers : means a person's preference or choice in a situation. Example sentence: If I had my druthers, I would spend the weekend at the beach instead of working.


Blasé : it means being indifferent or unimpressed, often because of overexposure to something. Example sentence : After attending so many concerts, he felt blasé about the latest band’s performance.


Bragadocious: it means being boastful or full of bragging. Example sentence: His bragadocious tales about his adventures made everyone roll their eyes.


Stringent : having a very severe effect, or being extremely limiting. -- The most stringent laws in the world are useless unless there is the will to enforce them.


Recant : to announce in public that your past beliefs or statements were wrong and that you no longer agree with them. -- After a year spent in solitary confinement, he publicly recanted (his views).


Last ditch : it refers to a final, desperate attempt or effort to do something, usually when all other options have been exhausted. For example: "The team is making a last ditch effort to win the championship game, putting everything they have left on the field."


Sling mud : it means to make harsh, unfair criticisms or accusations against someone, often without clear evidence. For example: "The two politicians have been slinging mud at each other during the debate, making personal attacks instead of discussing the real issues."


Gormless : stupid and slow to understand. Example sentence: Don't just stand there looking gormless — do something !


Nebbish : A nebbish is a person who is weak, shy, and not very confident or successful. Example sentence: "The nebbish clerk was too timid to speak up during the important meeting."


Exempt : to give someone permission not to do or pay something. -- The new law exempts people who earn less than $8000 a year from paying any taxes.


Cavil :an unreasonable complaint, especially about something that is not important. -- The one cavil I have about this book is that it is written as a diary.


Malevolence : the quality of causing or wanting to cuase harm or evil. -- It was an act of great malevolence.


Frivolously : in a silly way that does not rake something seriously. -- Many of us have a tendency to spend money frivolously.


Explicate : to explain in details. -- It is essentially a simple notion, but explicating it is difficult.


Derivative : not new or invented, but copied or taken from something else . -- This season's TV shows are all pretty dull and derivative.


Vent : to express feelings of anger, hatred etc,especially by doing something violent or harmful. --  The meeting gave us a chance to vent our spleen.
