In 1996 I became the first woman to #rollerblade 5000 miles across #Canada to give hope to my #mother who suffered from #leukemia and to prove that anything is possible. I am now a #CEO and research #scientist and I continue to carry to torch in the fight against death.
Excellence is never an accident. It is always the result of high intention, sincere effort, and intelligent execution; it represents the wise choice of many alternatives - choice, not chance, determines your destiny. --Aristotle

October is Leukemia Awareness Month. Save a life--with a simple cheek swab you can register to be a bone marrow donor. einpresswire.com/article/753768… via @ein_news
Standing on the banks of Newfoundland, looking at the infinite ocean roaring as it broke against the rocky shores, I felt such awe knowing that the power of those restless waters can only be matched by the power of the human spirit that dwells within each and every one of us.
October 15th marks the anniversary that Dr. Christine Ichim, CEO and founder of Florica Therapeutics, successfully completed her national rollerblading trek across Canada to raise money for leukemia research, and to give hope to her mother Florica, who suffered from leukemia.
October 15 is leukemia awareness day, commemorating the day I completed a 5000 mile rollerblading trek across Canada, from Victoria, BC to Saint John's, NFLD to give hope to cancer patients.

October 15 is a very special day. Not only is it my birthday but it is the day I proved that the human spirit can over come even the most impossible odds. Today I have turned my attention to research on infertility, please help if you can youtu.be/EW11Fpxt9Xw?fe… via @YouTube
Anyone have a Waymo invite code? I want to hitch a ride in a robo-car
People don’t do hard things because it makes them feel soft.
Absolutely, but if you are worried about the economy bottoming out, personally, I would raise more than that. 1M is not going to get you very far, depending on what vertical you're in. I would aim higher. Me, I would go for 5-10M pre-seed.
question, do we think it’s possible for a female founder to raise a million dollar pre-seed round in this economy?
Life
I've climbed many mountains without a partner but not once had I been alone. Nobody is really alone. I am the only "founder" but I consider my employees, my husband, and my friends integral. Also there is no shortage of people willing to help and offer advice in SF.
So great to spend the day with @SouthCity13 and my colleagues at @MBiolabs inspiring the next generation of scientists at the Potrero Hill STEM Fest
I found a lucky penny outside today. Over $1.50 worth of lucky pennies! I picked them up, every single one, because in my field you gotta be one in a million. I take it as an omen of more money to come. Some people call it crazy, I call it opportunity. #startup #biotech
We were born in the mouth of a hurricane, we literally moved into our commercial lease the first day of lockdown. Didn't qualify for any PPP loans because we were paid with sweat equity. This downturn is nothing, I feel bad for larger companies having to raise a series C.
Like this message if you’re a founder raising in this bear market
It's especially bad advice in the pharmaceutical vertical. It's one thing to put out a buggy app to test pmf, put out a defective drug or medical device and people's lives get ruined
Move fast and break things was universal advice applied to everyone despite them already doing the riskiest thing of their lives and for many industries, this is actually not great advice.
