A lot of smart people are talking about this chart, but missing the single most important factor behind the UK's position: Gas It's a very perplexing omission: Let me explain why 1/3

Apologies for wrong table posted above. Should have been this one. Same point about concentration of small number of very valuable estates applies. Half of all estates under £500k. 73% under £1m
That's why, if we look at the stats, 87% of inherited agricultural property used less than £1m of APR and so will remain completely exempt. Almost half the £1bn cost of APR went to 63 estates of median value £8m. Doesn't seem great value for money for the taxpayer.
Today's Lancet climate and health report presents 56 indicators of health and climate change across FIVE domains. (Download the report for free from the Lancet website). Here is a thread of some of the key findings. #Lancetclimate24 (1)
Other factor impacting tree species is climate change - which isn’t mentioned in @hbriggs article. In some locations weather patterns are shifting faster than trees can adapt or move. Pests & disease also linked to CC We need joined-up solutions bbc.co.uk/news/articles/…

As a female climate scientist, blocking is the only thing that makes my engagement here on Twitter/X possible. Daily, I receive comments that range from disparaging to downright vile. Since Oct, my tweets can attract thousands of trolls (real people) and bots (not real). 🧵
Enhanced weathering is a promising technology to permanently remove CO2 from the atmosphere, improve soil pH, agricultural yields, and reduce N2O emissions, but is challenging to verify. After a year of work involving 50 scientist, we have a firm roadmap for verification:…

Mountains of #sphagnum 😍This super-absorbent moss grows in hummocks, raising the water table and creating the wet, acidic conditions for peat formation.
#ScotClimateWeek Day 7. For the final day we thought we'd share this film of people explaining why they have worked with us to restore peatlands. Thank you to everyone who watched, liked or shared our films - helping us to tell our stories and spread the word! @NatureScot

The final report of the Grenfell Tower Inquiry has now been published. On this day, we remember the 72 lives lost. This report demonstrates beyond doubt that an agenda of deregulation cost lives. We share the grief and anger of the bereaved, survivors and residents.
