5yo daughter’s teacher called her “a mathematician” yesterday. She was so excited to tell us when she got home and said it was the best thing about her day. She spent the evening doing number bonds independently & absolutely loving it. Never underestimate the power your words.

Jess never gave up hope, despite the worst prognosis. Her vitality buzzed like sparking electricity in the room. Medics wept & marvelled at her. When young people die, despite their enduring determination, bells in every corner of the country should ring celebrating them.🧵10/10

I'd like to bring something that it's crucial about Gisele Pelicot's case: she is the so called "perfect victim" that men can't dismiss anymore. I'll explain: men can't say "she was wearing this/that", "she provoked them", "she put herself in this situation," "she wanted it." 1/

Burnout isn't about hours worked. In fact, there are usually much deeper causes. Leaders should start to recognize when it's occurring, And take steps to help. Use this graphic to find causes of burnout in your organization.

Fantastic to hear @bphillipsonMP acknowledge @BBCr4today that a key part of fixing retention is a focus on the biggest group that leave teaching each year - women in their thirties - often coinciding with when they become mothers (8.18am) bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/m0… #missingmothers

Love it when @TeacherTapp do the teaching population a huge favour by reminding us to check our pensions!! 🫶🏼 I’ve had a number of errors in my service record to sort over the years. Particularly important if you’ve been on maternity leave or worked part time! @mtpt_project

Exodus of new mums fuels teacher shortage in schools - BBC News - This is so sad and it really doesn’t have to be like this. There are so many ways to be #flexible in education. ⁦@WomenEdbbc.co.uk/news/articles/…

Working in prisons doesn’t often get a high profile. What Natasha, her team and every person trained via Unlocked have done to combat that is extraordinary & I truly hope there’s a way to keep it going. If you know anyone who might help make the case, do contact @NPorter_

This is such a dreadfully sad time for @unlockedgrads I am really hoping that the government can work with us to find a solution so we don't lose this incredible initiative from prisons across England and Wales. unlockedgrads.org.uk/news-item/upda…

BBC News - 9000 women in their 30s leave teaching each year. We need flexible working to address the lack of teachers, not money for training 6,500 new teachers. Happy teachers deserve to be happy parents too. Thank you, @mtpt_project for all you do. bbc.com/news/articles/…

I’m speaking on 5live tonight about the new Missing Mothers report @mtpt_project @emma_au_soleil has wonderfully co written. So many 30-39 people leaving our profession and from my experience unlikely to return with the current conditions. What would make you return? @WomenEd

This report brought tears to my eyes: the people of Southport: children, locals sweeping up around the mosque, shaking hands with mosque members, bringing balm after far right vandalism and riots. They are a stick in the eye of those seeking division. This is what community is.

Highly effective school leaders understand that their staff are more than employees—they’re people with families and lives beyond school. Putting their well-being first actually builds a stronger, more dedicated team. #Backtoschool2024

Maybe someone at the @DfE read @mumsyme’s blog about off-site PPA back in February 2023? I know the pay award is the big news but this positive attitude towards flex and trust in the professionalism of teachers is very promising indeed! #FlexEducation mumsymeblog.wordpress.com/2023/02/20/the…
