Ignore my rank handwriting (I swear it’s usually lovely - I was rushed!) but ohmygosh if you want to have fun do Room 101 persuasive writing with your class. They are LOVING coming up with things to be banished and their reasons why. I can’t wait for them to get writing🥳
I have a similar child. He gets started straight on the work during input then has a pouch of relevant challenges to the area of maths we are learning about (nrich, barvember). Some he does independently, some we work through together and I can see his problem solving develop.
How about some side projects for in depth application. The first one that springs to mind is the running a Theme Park project but there are others out there. Also problem solving photocopiable books may be useful. woodside.bexley.sch.uk/images/Theme-P…

Trialling something different this week with poetry. Thinking about the intensity of singular word choices, their impact & formulating the big ideas from there. This was what Y10 came up with yesterday, prior to reading the whole poem - I only gave them a crunched version.
