Joan Crawford: Everything clicked on Autumn Leaves. The cast was perfect, the script was good, I think Bob Aldrich handled everything well. I really think Cliff Robertson did a stupendous job. It just never became better known. It was eclipsed by What Ever Happened to Baby Jane?
Strange, Cliff Robertson starred in a lot of good films in the 60s. Then he did the brilliant film "Charlie" in 1968, won an Academy Award for best actor, and then just did bit parts for the next 40 years.
