I believe there is significant demand for car-free, walkable neighborhoods in this country, and I think we should make it legal for every city and town to create them.

Everybody blames the federal government and immigrants for the housing crisis, yet the blame should go more to municipalities having insane development charges. These charges, NIMBYs, and the idea of your house being your piggy bank are the problem. x.com/MikePMoffatt/s…

Daily reminder that in large parts of the GTA, development charges are over $140,000 a home. In Vaughan, they're $192,000. My entire house only cost $168,000 in 2004. At current growth rates, each of these cities will have million-dollar DCs by the mid-2030s.

Walkable neighborhoods

NIMBYs really believe that only current residents in a neighborhood should get to decide whether new housing is built. This is a blatant power grab. Future residents must have a voice on new housing.

Do these comments not look highly suspect, as well most are not from the neighbourhood at all. Is there any kind of scrutiny done of responses or is this a free for all? @CityofVancouver @sarahkirby_yung @LennyNanZhou @PtFry @LisaDominato @jwhiteyvr

He’s right on this: it could be a great opportunity. Not just medical, but from all economic sectors. Let’s start wooing and recruiting

On the plus side, if RFK Jr. is confirmed Canada will have a massive opportunity to recruit some of the best medical research talent in the world.

Canadian cities need to do whatever Austin did

The Austin, TX rental market is collapsing before our eyes. With the median apartment rent dropping 15% over the last 2+ years. The vacancies have skyrocketed. Rental concessions are everywhere. Rents are now only 9.8% higher than pre-pandemic. Meaning that many Austin…

Ontario's housing crisis isn't just "population is growing too fast". We're also not building family-sized homes. This is a crisis, yet our politicians refuse to treat it like one.

Single-family home starts are set to hit 69-year low, according to new data that also reveals more challenges in the Ford government's plan to build 1.5 million new housing units. READ MORE: trib.al/7B3VSr3">trib.al/7B3VSr3 trib.al/7B3VSr3">trib.al/7B3VSr3

There are cities in Ontario where the development charges alone are more than what my entire brand new, 2-storey, 3-bedroom house cost in 2004 ($168,000). We made building homes financially unviable and, surprise, we just don't build them anymore.

Canada is like Europe. The idea of winning makes us uncomfortable. That's why we're known as the country that aims for bronze. We should get serious about economic growth, innovation, industry, maximizing our resource potential, and regain our audacity as a country.

No. A non-partisan, technocratic civil service is an essential pillar of democracy (something entirely consistent with conservative thought by the way). Trump is openly saying he will dismantle it and replace it with unqualified loyalists.

Cheering for the large corrupt unchangeable government is a great look
