Defra has identified the greatest risk to our precious moorlands - it is wildfire. Controlled burning, in season, and in accordance with stringent regulation, is a crucial tool to protect moorland, save firefighters' lives and prevent devastating wildfire #wildfirerisk

Mostly H2O vapour. Some C released but half locked away as charcoal. Mowing leaves large biomass which decomposes & releases CO2. No intervention increases fuel loads enhancing risk of wildfire causing greater C losses and threats to human safety. features.york.ac.uk/a-burning-issu…

Yet again no mention by @RSPB_Birders that the hen harrier population is at a 200-year high in England, thanks in large part to the efforts of grouse moor owners and keepers #henharrier

The scale of bird of prey crime is grossly exaggerated by @RSPB for its own publicity. We condemn all bird of prey crime. The reality is that such incidents are now very rare. Many alleged ‘incidents’ happen nowhere near grouse moors #henharrier

Tweet Image 1

Why did @RSPB provide footage of a crime to the media before giving it to the police? Everyone should call the police if they see a crime in progress or if they have evidence of a crime. We condemn unequivocally all bird of prey crime #birdsofprey #henharrier #grousemoor
