Went to a small town to join friends for lunch yesterday. No warning but every parking metre within a half- mile radius required an app. We are elderly and wanted to pay by card or cash and not to have to work out how to download an app. We gave up. There should be options.

I’m beginning to spot the difference between genuine and AI photos. But surely a human feeds the devices which produce AI? Old and confused here maybe but I prefer people to machines. Is that last statement really outdated?

Loved Wolf Hall. Totally absorbed by the wonderful acting, menace and magnificent costumes and setting. @Wolf Hall

Armistice Day. I was born in London in 1948. From the age of five my parents would take me to Shaftesbury Avenue and Leicester Square to see musicals. I remember walking the walls of bomb sites en route and admiring the sumptuous wild flowers that grew there. There was/is hope.

An amazing series about the Solar System from Professor Brian Cox. I have myriads of questions now and hope there will be another series! Mindboggling! Thank you to the Professor and all concerned. @BBC2 @BBC4 @Professor Brian Cox

Appreciating small joys today. The sun is shining, it’s cold but the washing is drying well in the breeze. Sammy squirrel has bounced merrily across the garden, a greater spotted woodpecker spent time at the bird table and husband did a load of food shopping to stock up.

Do you remember when you joined X? I do! #MyXAnniversary still prefer the former name: Twitter. Lots of kind and caring people here. They are the ones whose posts I read.

Just back from a wonderful holiday in the Canary Islands. We love fish and the paella and platter were exceptional. Sad that fish is so expensive here. Lovely to enjoy it in a restaurant by the sea. Back there soon. Mustn’t forget the the fishermen who produce these delights.

Last evening I saw this beautiful sunset, resolved to see the Perseids, forgot and went to bed. Oh well, the photo is a happy memory.

The closing ceremony has livened up! Well done to all!

Lovethe alien’s gold costume and hope it will be displayed. The closing ceremony is meaningful evoking history but a bit dull.

An evening garden photo. We need to look at beautiful things in this troubled world.

Loving the Olympic gymnastics although I hated PE at school and couldn’t even leapfrog! Wish the male gymnasts would shave under their arms. Surely all that hair adds to their weight?

I’m very glad not to be the person who implemented the software and caused chaos today around the world. I wonder whether they are in hiding behind the sofa or hoping to make restitution from their piggy bank?🐖🛋️

Adding to my earlier post, we were lunching in a Kent pub on Monday and there was a ladies’ loo with baby changing facilities, a gents and a loo with a male and female sign outside. It seems sensible but expensive for some to set up so should be encouraged rather than made law.

This woman has made us out to be racist; we Brits are not! Only the ignorant are racist. I was sitting in a large service station cafe last week surrounded by people of many nationalities all enjoying the fare. The RF have entertained thousands of world citizens with great warmth

Camellia Reposted

REPOST Shown below, is an actual letter that was sent to a bank by an 86 year old woman. The bank manager thought it amusing enough to have it published in the Times. Dear Sir: I am writing to thank you for bouncing my cheque with which I endeavoured to pay my plumber last month.…

Don’t think ULEZ will apply here!
