A second 2024 youngster reached Brazil by 21st October, although sadly EM83272 has washed up dead, only 109km from where EM82816 was found

Manx Shearwater chick EM82816 was last seen on 26th August, its wing about 10mm short of fledging length. It was found exhausted on a Brazilian beach on 8th October, 43 days later. So 216km a day and in reality a lot more than that

Excited to present my MScRes project as a poster (39) at #CoimbraSeabirds this evening - using DNA Metabarcoding of buccal and cloacal swabs in combination with Stable Isotope Analysis to study adult guillemot diet on Puffin Island 🧬 🐟 🐧 Come and say hi! 👋🏼 @TheSeabirdGroup

That's pretty remarkable. I wonder how many other records of birds ringed in India the @_BTO archives hold.

On 19/6/24 Caroline Pickett photographed an adult Curlew Sandpiper at the Gann Estuary with black leg flag MAB. Took some detective work, but turns out she was ringed on 27/11/22 at Puthalam Saltpan - at the southern tip of India! Astonishing that it should end up in Pembs.

Last night, Skomer gathered for the island's first Skomer Pride! It was a wonderful celebration of the LGBTQ+ community. The island is proud to be a safe place for staff, volunteers and visitors - we champion your right to be your true self. #pride #skomerpride

The counts are in! We're very pleased to announce that this year's Puffin number on Skomer Island is 41,605. We're very pleased that the island remains a stronghold for this seabird species. Photo © Huia Wesling Macgregor, Skomer Long-Term Volunteer

Read the @RSPBScience report on post #birdflu surveys here rspb.org.uk/birds-and-wild… Bird flu hasn't replaced the many other pressures facing our seabirds, but it has increased the urgency of improving the resiliency of these species by protecting their feeding and breeding grounds

📢 Attention please... D32 is a Moorhen. Yes, a Moorhen. Moving from Merseyside, UK to Copenhagen, Denmark and back 🇬🇧🇩🇰 A Moorhen... They're so often overlooked, but never underestimate the 'common' species ✌️ @WaterbirdCM have a whole host of studies on species like this

D32 is back to Merseyside! The first year of the #NMP produced 148 new birds from locations across Britain and Ireland. This project is a massive collaboration between 46 ringers. We had 181 resightings sent to our waterbirdcolourmarking.org but D32 is by far the most exciting bird.
