In art we have learnt all about Leonardo da Vinci and have created information pages all about him. We’ve loved singing along to our Christmas nativity songs whilst doing so @Year2Monksdown @MonksdownMakes

For #AntiBullyingWeek2024 we created freeze frames and discussed how bullying would make a person feel. We also discussed reasons why some people may choose to bully and how we can help before creating antibullying leaflets @MonksWellbeing

Some of our completed dens. I was so impressed! And even more impressed with how perfectly the children put the classroom back together afterwards! @MonksdownSTEM @Year2Monksdown

It was amazing to see how differently each group tackled the problem. Some of us prioritised comfort, some practicality, one group felt that their priority was the door! @Year2Monksdown @MonksdownSTEM

Today children were given the challenge of creating a shelter, using only what was in our classroom. They worked in groups of 5 to discuss their plan and sketch their design @MonksdownSTEM @Year2Monksdown

In History we became History Detectives, where we answered the question “How could the unsinkable Titanic sink?” We worked in pairs to create a boat that could float and hold passengers (blue tack) and then discovered what happened when it got a hole in the base @Year2Monksdown

In science this week we have learnt how to classify animals by answering and writing some guess who clues. Some of us worked independently, using the iPads to support our learning. We also had opportunities during continuous provision to apply what we had learnt @Year2Monksdown

A fantastic day of maths today. Children worked in pairs to practise crossing the ten when adding a one digit and a two digit number. We STOPPED and SWAPPED the ten ones for one ten when using our concrete apparatus @Monksdownmaths2 @Year2Monksdown
