Immensely proud of Danish EsophagoGastric Cancer group for being part of this important publication. The paper highlights the variation in treatment and management strategies in particular for early-stage cancers between countries. gut.bmj.com/content/early/…

#MemoryMonday Today we highlight a paper by @olsen_august who showed that severe Mesenteric Traction Syndrome was associated with increased postoperative morbidity and length of stay in patients undergoing major abdominal surgery pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/31820096/ @Rigshospitalet @LAOS1860

This week for #FluorescentFriday we highlight a report by Overwater et al. investigating the feasibility of sentinel node navigated surgery in high-risk T1b esophageal adenocarcinoma patients using a hybrid tracer of 99mTc and ICG. pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/34046715/ @Rigshospitalet

Second time around at first-in-human experimental endoscopic cancer treatment. Electrochemotherapy in 2016 and now calcium eletroporation. Both times for esophageal cancer and both times with Charlotte Egeland. The dynamic duo💪 #cancer #research #surgicalinnovation

Today, the first patient with esophageal cancer was safely treated with calcium electroporation Dept. of Surgery and Transplantation at Rigshospitalet, University of Copenhagen. We are looking forward to further treatment sessions in this phase 1 clinical trial. @Rigshospitalet

An eye-opening study from one of the foremost experts in the area of fluorescence-guided surgery! Now proven that all surgeons across level of expertise can improve wit ICG

#FluorescentFriday. This week we highlight our newest publication. In this article @nikolajnerup has shown q-ICG improved all levels of surgeons ability to perform safe resections. link.springer.com/article/10.100… @Rigshospitalet #SurgicalEndoscopy #ICG #qICG

You know fluorescence is too much on your mind when you see ICG on needlefish bones at dinner😅

Time for #FluorescentFriday This week we highlight a narrative review on the state of quantitative nir light fluorescence-guidance surgery to provide an overview and aid standardization. pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/32821959/ we wish you all a pleasant weekend @Rigshospitalet @LAOS1860 #ICG

With so much hype surrounding ICG-guided surgery and so little clinical knowledge.....super relevant

Time for #FluorescentFriday. The use of fluorescence during surgery is ever increasing. As a result a consensus regarding optimum dose, concentration, route and timing of ICG administration should be a major research focus. pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/33214476/ @Rigshospitalet @AnnalsofSurgery

On #MemoryMonday this week, we re-visit the excellent, but ever-relevant paper from CecilieOkholm on the inflammatory response in minimal invasive vs. open surgery for gastric cancer. pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/24852697/ @Rigshospitalet #inflammation #surgery #MinimallyInvasive #GastricCancer

Important paper by one of the pioneers of quantification algorithms for ICG fluorescence @nikolajnerup

For the first #FluorescentFriday we highlight our first paper on quantitative indocyanine green fluorescence angiography by our previous PhD student @nikolajnerup pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/27848028/ @Rigshospitalet @DiagnosticGreen @LAOS1860 @SpringerSurgery #ICG #qICG #Perfusion
