The next step in the mental health literacy world needs to teach people how to appropriately respond when someone opens up & is genuinely vulnerable/honest. Even if you were “being dramatic,” there may have been some slice of truth in there. COVID sucks. Sending 🙏🏼💪&❤️

“Authorities found dead children in multiple piles” -WSJ. Truly a disgrace that we haven’t restricted access to military grade weapons for private citizens. Waiting periods, license requirements… this could be fixed. The NRA should at least step up & acknowledge common sense.

Pediatrician here. I want people to know that death by firearm is not rare in kids. In fact, it has been the #1 cause death in this age group since 2020. In 2020 alone, 4300 children died from firearms. That’s equivalent to one Boeing 747 plane crash every month for 9 months.

I hope #TheBachelor has a full time therapist available and encouraged for every cast member.

Fast food commercials should be illegal. They’re as triggering and dangerous as nicotine, tobacco, drugs. #obesity #publichealth @NYGovCuomo @AOC

Reminder fo what capitol "security" in full military-grade riot gear looked like for Black Lives Matter protests this summer.

Namaste, here is your unroll: COVID Update: What we’re still doing wrong that must be fixed. And I think people who care need to see this. And I will… threadreaderapp.com/thread/1344410… Talk to you soon. 🤖

My grad school app spoke to my excitement to advocate for data liquidity in the US healthcare system. Wild to me that within less than a year of graduating, the words “data liquidity” will become a known phrase, not just imagined like in science fiction. bit.ly/3ayaO4s

Excited to learn about the work @myTomorrows is doing to match patients with clinical trials. So important that patients in need are matched with opportunities to participate in research and access innovative therapies - especially in the #RareDisease community.

The person who experiences the consequences should make the decision.

Just. look. at. this. graph. Did late March feel terrible and apocalyptic? We are FAR past that point right now. And guess what? We have not yet reached the BUSIEST HOLIDAY TRAVEL WEEK OF THE YEAR My patients are asking me about travel plans. They have no idea what is coming

You have 1 ICU bed left. Three patients need it. A woman with two children is bleeding to death from complications of child birth, a young man has crashed his car and crushed his chest, and and ICU nurse can no longer breath on her own. Who do you choose?

When I notice myself worrying about “what other people will think” I find I’m usually not worried about any single person’s opinion. If I pick a specific person, I‘m rarely concerned about what they will think. What I fear is the collective opinion in my head. It’s imaginary.

Reactivate public health education ads. @NYCMayorsOffice - bring back hand washing, masks up, social distancing ads, stay home - Save a live ads. It feels like it’s time.

Remember flatten the curve? We educated the public about exponential growth, hospital capacity, and avoiding catastrophe. Can we do that again, please?

No matter what happens next... Thank you, Georgia. Thank you, @staceyabrams Thank you, Black people.

If you live in a swing state, please make sure your vote was counted!

You’ve cast your ballot, now what? The election isn’t over until EVERY SINGLE vote is counted and that includes yours! Did you know that in many states, you can track your ballot? Go to CheckMyBallot.net to make sure your ballot was counted. #CivicsForTheCulture

One of the comments I’ve had so far about the election: “It feels very much like taking care of a patient who is given a clear prescription and plan of care for a disease but instead the patient embraces quackery and snake oil and denies the existence of the disease.” @ofayanju

I wish I could tell you we will be fine either way, that it doesn’t matter who’s president but it surely does more than ever. We now need to be patient and let democracy play out. Resist the impulse to get baited into violence or even further name calling. 16/

If Trump wins, many people who didn’t vote for him face loss of health insurance, pandemic illness and death, risk of physical harm due to racism, homophobia, and misogyny, and economic ruin. If Biden wins, people who didn’t vote for him face empathy and analysis. Incredible.

What’s up w Florida?
