Amazing closing keynote with our @SDOCElemEd AP-PLT Leads! "Poverty is not just lack of money but a lack of access to people who can help you." Most importantly, "even on your worst day, you can be your students' best hope." @ManuelScott @ImpactFla #GreatTeachingMatters

What a surprise this morning to have Dr. Pace come to see our morning Math Masters program before school started! She even stayed to help check students work :). Thank you Dr. Pace for being an exemplary leader and making students a priority.

It was great walking with Evelith Olmeda, Director of Elementary Education, as we saw "eye to eye" with Ms. Bobe's students as they were experimenting on how the brain perceives images in the left and right eye. What a great visual and learning experience! STEM Rocks!

A huge SHOUT OUT to Evelith Olmeda, Director of Elementary Curriculum and Instruction, and Ashlee Langley, District Resource Specialist, for their support today at Chestnut. They put the gloves on and went to work. SDOC support is second to none.

Ms. Mason's scientists worked collaboratively to save Fred by engineering tools out of paper clips that can safely extract the life preserver caught underneath the boat and placing the preserver around Fred’s body. This was completed without him falling into the water. STEM Rocks!

NASA, watch out! We are preparing our next generation of leaders in space! These kiddos were already sharing how they would redesign their rockets with their amazing teachers! @JanetTafel @brewer_cbrewer

Today, our 3-5 grade NASA scientists and engineers at Chestnut Elementary had the opportunity to launch their rockets as a finale to an exciting week of STEaM Camp! Thank you to our 5th grade teachers, Ms. Tafel and Ms. Mason, as well as Mr. Trombley and Ms. Long!

And…the wait is over! Here are some future engineers creating rovers for Mars lead by one of our fantastic 5th grade duos - Ms. Tafel and Ms. Mason!

Today, our STEAM Camp Scientists engineered a rover that can be used to explore the surface of Mars as we learned more about NASA's current mission perseverance.

Loved seeing future engineers in action!!

Today, Ms. Ramotar's kindergarten class became automotive engineers as they constructed their own vehicles. The designs were then tested repeatedly for aeroodynamics and revisions were made. Tesla Motors has their future engineers preparing for tomorrow at Chestnut Elementary.
