And of course, the very next day..... nexttv.com/news/new-bulls…
I would argue that this says more about the @nbcschicago shutdown as it does @whitesox wisdom. @CHSN hasn't yet secured carriage with @DIRECTV or @comcast and already confirmed it will broadcast OTA - ie., no carriage fees - in 2025 Major cash hit coming to all 3 teams, I think

Given where the Sox are at, it doesn’t make much sense to be “big players in free agency” so I’m not bothered by the Getz comment. If you sign guys now, you’re making a risky bet they’ll be good three years from now when it matters, and if they’re not, you’ve handcuffed yourself.

Will be interesting to see if ad free upgrade is available. On @DisneyPlus it was not. That probably had some impact on uptake.
Similar to the Charter/ Disney deal. Since that deal, few Charter subs have activated their Disney+ subscriptions. In the quarter following that deal, Charter lost 180,000 residential cable subscribers.
$DIS announcing this quarter's earnings w/o disclosing @ESPNPlus subscriber numbers may be another step in this direction, as a lot of subscribers would probably desert the platform after it was separated out. Will now be $6, as that is the new spread between Duo and Trio Bundle
2024 prediction: $DIS will at some point this year abandon its #DisneyBundle revenue allocation method and switch to a flat $5 per month ESPN+ allocation. Sounds nerdy and minutia, I know, but it will have a massive impact on the stock when it happens, I think.
Depends what a court thinks of @NBA motives were. If they set out to screw $WBD then yes. But it was once very common to sell streaming and linear rights separately. Many local @MLB deals today still include linear + authentication but not streaming. So NBA can argue that.
I don't see how a court will just allow provisions that were intentionally designed to hamper a party from exercising the rights that they paid for.
So maybe, in hindsight, pushing out Pat Foley so abruptly wasn't such a great idea, after all? Eddie O probably would have stayed too if Pat had. @NHLBlackhawks nytimes.com/athletic/55447…
The #NFL gets $2b per year from @NBCUniversal not $950m, that's the previous deal. nexttv.com/news/comparing…
It's not a typo, the mistake's repeated multiple times We all make mistakes, but the article's 3 days old w/ no correction. And @CMEGroup is one of the top exchanges in the country.
@CMEGroup this needs fixing!! The Fed's been rolling off $60b/month in Treasuries not $35b. $35b is the *difference* b/t the new runoff and the old one. cmegroup.com/openmarkets/in…
The @NBA is either going to be the last sports contract negotiated before the sports bubble bursts, or the first one after. $wbd $dis
This article is incorrect. Digital TV Research found that pay tv in the US would be 49 million lower than in *2015* at 60 million by 2029. Give or take that would be about 15 million lower than end 2023 suggesting that they think cord cutting will slow. Not sure I agree though.
Many observers were shocked when pay-TV companies lost nearly 2 million customers in the third quarter of 2023, but a new report shows that may be just the tip of the iceberg. Read more about how fast cable is expected to lose viewers here: thestreamable.com/news/report-pa…
$PARA has a profitable sports slate, a high-viewership flagship broadcast channel and low # of power franchises. $DIS has an unprofitable sports slate, low-viewership flagship and high # of power franchises, as does $WBD So *WHY* is PARA's strategy **EXACTLY** like DIS and WBD?
$DIS is getting closer and closer to pulling it's ESPN subsidies, I think. Will make #DisneyPlus look a lot better, but hit on the Sports side will be brutal
