Today I watched a judge get upset b/c an attorney said during a bail application that the family had not been able to save enough money to buy their loved one’s freedom. She didn’t like that characterization of bail. Which leads me to ask, what do judges think bail is?
No. The problem is not that the working-class got a $1,400 direct payment 19 months ago and the dude at Arby's got a 50 cent raise a year ago. The problem is that corporations are making record profits by jacking up the price of everything. The problem is corporate greed, boss.
Today as you read this thread, corporations will steal $137 million in wages, rich people will steal $2.75 billion in taxes, and 1,300 people will die from poverty, air pollution, and medical error. These are all solvable if the problems are treated urgently.
"Don't let perfect be the enemy of good" is literally just a phrase used to keep peoples' expectations low.
Because I could make up an endless number of magical entities to pester you with this same basic inane question, the only reason that people fixate on this particular fictional entity, Is that it's been used to control us... And that has had a negative effect on society.
It is an emergency. And yet we spend almost all our money supporting brutality.
