“We work to make schools more humane places.” I’m still waiting to see that as an ed reform motto.

¿Por qué la ballena no tiene hambre? ¡Porque estaba llena! My very patient student attempted to explain this joke to me multiple times, and I only actually get it now that I looked it up. And I love it.

Large class sizes are so bad for students. Just ask any kid in my 2019-20 period 4 class, which had 9 more students than the BTU limit. At a BPS school not bound to the contract. Our working conditions doc said class sizes "may exceed optimum levels"... so they could and did.

I was actually stunned by this one: BPS wants to eliminate class size maxima and reduce special education supports for inclusion. This is unacceptable. #BostonStudentsDeserve #BTUContractNow

The only people who benefit from receivership are the myriad companies profiting from contracts with DESE, but showing absolutely no positive impact on our schools. It’s a pocket-lining scam. Don’t sleep.

Thank you so much, @TracyNovick My voice represented the many people in Lawrence, MA who have been scammed by those at BESE and their claims that this "savior" receivership law has helped communities like ours when in fact is disenfranchising our families.

8. Our schools are imperfect. They always have been. It's a project. But when we take the long-view, it's a fairly inspiring project. We can believe both of these things at the same time--that our schools are deeply flawed, and that our schools are a national treasure. 9/
