As a ‘community’ surgeon, this seems like a good time to remind folks that things are *very* different once you get outside the Ivory Tower. The way things work, and who wields the power, is entirely different. And it isn’t just about who did the most competitive residencies.
Thank you @RepKimSchrier for speaking about the flawed Medicare physician payment system yesterday on the House floor. In the absence of long-term reform, we urge Congress to act now and stop the full 3.37% cut to Medicare physician payment.
While overhead costs have risen 47%, Medicare physician reimbursement has been flat or declining for decades, including a cut this year. These cuts jeopardize patient care. I urge my colleagues to reverse the cuts and support my bill to stabilize physician reimbursement.
