The journalists working @EverettHerald have had an incredibly difficult year and deserve so much better!!!! Fair wages now for the @EverettGuild

Carpenter Media presented the NewsGuild with a new wage proposal today, the company's first in about six months. It is, frankly, insulting. Perhaps most egregious, the company proposed $1.00 an hour bonus for "meeting newsroom minimum standards of 2-3 bylines per day."

support your local journalists!!! actionnetwork.org/petitions/supp…

Today at noon, @CascadePBSUnion members used our lunch break to rally for fair wages and a fair contract. If you’re in the area, drop by and say hi - we’ll be the ones in the bright red shirts ✊

We’re tabling tonight at 6:30 at the @nwfilmforum screening of UNION, co-presented by @MLKLabor and @SeattleTRU Come see us and come see a really important film about Amazon warehouse workers’ courageous efforts to unionize. ✊

Email our bosses @CascadePBS at the link below to demand fair wages now for journalists!!!! 🗣️🗣️🗣️🗣️ All you have to do is click the link and hit send (but obvy personalize if you’d like 💛)

We’re back at the bargaining table today. If you haven’t already, please consider emailing the bosses letting them know you’re in our corner as we ramp up our fight for fair pay. tinyurl.com/Email-the-Casc…

Hey! Remember us? We are STILL bargaining for our first contract. Today, management will present their response to our initial proposal. Show us some love and remind @bradywalkinshaw that our readers stand with workers and hope he will too!

We canvassed tonight outside a podcast live-taping event @CascadePBS co-hosted, asking community members to send an email to our CEO (who makes nearly 7X the average unit member’s salary) voicing their support for a #FairContractNow. tinyurl.com/Email-the-Casc… (1/3)

Incredible work by @NoisyUnion!! Now time for @CascadePBS to get serious and pay the members of @CascadePBSUnion what they deserve. If you can pay the CEO $471k, you can pay your workers.

We did it! Noisy Union won raises of at least 20 percent and a new wage floor of $70k. Bringing everyone up to $70k means a $15k raise for some of our members!

This story has been updated with a comment from @AsstSecNewland

Three Native families are now facing eviction. If a federal program meant to create a pathway to homeownership for Native people had conveyed the homes after the units after the designated 15 years, all of the families could have been homeowners in 2020. underscore.news/justice/failed…

We were back at the bargaining table with @CascadePBS today, and it’s safe to say that we’ve got a long road ahead of us. Keep an eye out in the coming weeks as we ramp up our efforts to secure a #FairContractNow. ✊

Keep the pressure up! We're meeting with the bosses today. We have our demands and we're not settling for anything less.

Noisy Creek bought us, promised more resources, but refused an interim agreement to raise unit wages. Now they want to hire a new reporter for more than they pay current staff. If the company can't afford to pay workers a wage we can thrive on, we can't afford new reporters.

Today @saralacy and I published the first episode of First Response, a podcast series that looks at how treating gun violence affects medical professionals - and what they're doing to address the impacts of gun violence beyond the ER. @CascadePBSNews cascadepbs.org/podcast/northw…

We desperately need more reporters. And Noisy Creek also needs to pay existing reporters well. I've been at The Stranger 3 years and they want to post jobs that make 5k more than me after they did not give me a raise when they bought my job.

If you're too embarrassed to post a job at the wage you pay me, why are you so comfortable paying me that wage??

The Board of Directors sets our CEO’s salary ($471,105 in 2023, more than 6X our average unit member’s salary) so we thought it was important that they know exactly how underpaid @CascadePBS journalists are.

Like ………..

You want to be “the most essential and relevant media organization in the region” @CascadePBS? You need good journalists to do that, and you need to pay them a fair wage if you want to keep them.

Oh and btw - @CascadePBS journalists are making, on average, several THOUSANDS less than our counterparts at KUOW, the Seattle Times and Grist. See the graph below for reference 👇

Cascade PBS says its “vision is to be the most essential and relevant media organization in the region.” Hate to break it to you, @CascadePBS, but that costs $. How do you expect to do that when you’re so behind the curve on compensating journalists? infogram.com/seattle-media-… (1/3)

Many @CascadePBS journalists are struggling to afford basic living in Seattle. This week during bargaining, the company asked to extend our contract for A YEAR, with a 1.5% raise & a one-time, $1k bonus. A year is too long and that money isn't enough - we need higher pay now.

Yesterday the @CascadePBSUnion was back at the bargaining table, and @CascadePBS made us an offer we could (and did) refuse. We gave the company our wage proposal a month ago, so surely they would come back with a well thought out, reasonable counter, right? RIGHT? 🧵
