Rotation grad students, attend lab meetings. Its important to be in the lab as much as possible, but you'll also learn a lot about group interactions, engagement, support and culture in group meeting, while at the same time hearing more about lab projects.

Many 1st-year PhD students will conduct lab rotations to explore different research areas and select their dissertation mentor. What advice will you them to make the most of the experience? @cleaverlab @MariaChahrour @RussDeBo @Sorrell_Lab @SunnyShinLab @ODonnellLab_K

If you are on the job market, even if you have a K99, think about what an add like this says about the Department. It says: We expect you to make it on your own". I was fortunate to be hired in a Department that was supportive AFTER I arrived, in the early years & still today

Just to save some of you the trouble: It reads: "Candidates applying for a position at the Assistant Professor level are expected to have K99/R00 grants or equivalent and develop a rigorous extramurally funded research program."
