What are your earliest memories of Mowbray Park? Always somewhere to steer well clear of after dark. Is it still the same? #Sunderland

I remember feeding ducks on Mowbray Park lake when I was a kid. There was a large central island they used for refuge. Is that still there?

@dean1411: The Winter Gardens in Mowbray Park http://t.co/pdXwlpjs7P” Those lions have been there so long but is the lake there too?

The Sunderland Antiquarian website has some great photos of the old trams, buses and street scenes around #Sunderland sunderland-antiquarians.org

The bus from Park Lane to Silksworth used to be the 133 as I recall. sunderland-antiquarians.org/assets/Uploads… #Sunderland #Mackem

So...does anyone have any stories or photos of Sunderland from times gone by that they'd like to share?

I hope others will also feel able to use this account to share their memories too.

There have been so many changes, and I'd like to try and recapture something of what I remember as a child in both pictures and stories...

...I left, and found myself returning infrequently over the past 20 years.
