Day 10 of sharing 1 fact per day pertaining to the 16 states that had segregation scholarships. Today's state is Mississippi. MS was the very last state to create a segregation scholarship program, doing so in 1948. Medgar Evers turned it down when offered one for law school.

Our music industry, and our Mississippi lost one of the truly great ones…from music publishing to management, an amazing giver to the arts. We will miss you Marty Gamblin. Forever grateful for our friendship. RIP dear friend. 🙏🏻

We're so sorry to hear this. We worked with Marty Gamblin on many projects over the years. His enthusiasm for Mississippi's rich cultural heritage was extraordinary. Even with all of his impressive accomplishments, he was so down to earth and never met a stranger.

Philadelphia, Mississippi native Marty Gamblin was a giant in the music business working with Jim Weatherly, Glen Campbell and Alan Jackson. Mr. Gamblin touched all who knew him in a powerfully positive manner. Our prayers are with his family. RIP my friend.
