Eighty-one years ago today, 1022 Jews were deported from Rome to Auschwitz in the largest single round-up during the Nazi occupation of Italy. Much has been written, much more will be. And it’s still much needed. Thanks to @MHRABooks who believed in my work and published it.

Rome. Saturday 16 October 1943. This is where and when the largest single round-up and deportation of Jews from Italy happened. Thanks to @robertoolla1 and @tg5med for getting this event and my book to public attention on the eightieth anniversary of the round-up.

It was very stimulating to talk with Barbara Burns (@MHRABooks) about my monograph 'Italo Calvino and Japan'. If you are curious to know what links Calvino, Zen Buddhism, and a bright orange Beetle, have a look at this interview!

Very happy to see this out! I copy-edited it a couple of years ago, before I started my current role, and I've ended up guiding it through production. A truly monumental edition, worth looking at for anyone working on #earlymodern studies 📖
