I once knew a woman who was meek, deadend job, unlucky in love. Then she adopted like ten cats after her boss pushed her out a window and it honestly solved all her problems. She even bagged the richest man in Gotham City. So I'm just saying it seems like MORE CATS is the move.

Me: ok silly questions, where are we right now? What is this place? Patient: Heaven? This is Heaven. Me: *cackling* absolutely not sir, if anything it's the other one. Try again. Patient: ok ok, the ER.

Dragging into work today for shift 5/5. 65 hrs in 5 days 🤮 BUT energized because the sick sick kiddo I flew out recently is doing great, back to baseline and going home soon I hate this run of shifts, but I love my job

Only good thing about day shift: Hospital cafeteria breakfast is universally delicious. Why they can't bring this energy to lunch and dinner I don't understand, but whatever. Last 0600 report time today, and hopefully ever.

Happy new doctor day!! Swallow your anxiety and terror and start learning every chance you get. This is the beginning of a wild ride.

I'm not sure there is anything worse than making a mostly night doc work day shift in the ED. Oh wait, yes, doing it on a holiday weekend. For the whole weekend. There is not enough caffeine in the state to fix this horror

Oh you’re going to a teaching hospital in July? Well get ready… for the most compassionate care from extremely empathetic interns along with their vigilant supervising attendings. Hope you like open ended questions and doctors listening to you bc you’re gonna drown in it.

Hey @Lowes twice now you have sold the same fridge I purchased out from under me. You ran my credit card when I bought the fridge you claim was in stock, twice, and twice now you have cancelled my delivery within 48 hours of the scheduled time. Will not be buying a third 🤬

Even in residency night shift is the land of weird snacks. Had cuban sando flavored chips a while back, ppl say it tastes like a McD's cheeseburger, I say 🤷‍♀️ haven't had one in 10 yrs Nurse rolls in tonight with a cheeseburger and a bag of Cuban chips so I can know she's right😆

If this existed I would see these plays more times than I saw Titanic in the theater at age 11 (that number is shamefully high)

Is there any benefit to treating elevated BP in older admitted adults? New retrospective study with PS matching: @JAMAInternalMed ▶️n=66,140 VA pts aged 65+ ▶️21% got intensive BP treatment 🚨Treatment associated w/⬆️risk of adverse clinical outcomes🚨 jamanetwork.com/journals/jamai…

This! 1000x this. Not calling before sending turns me into the Roy Kent of my ED. So many grumble yells.

This is your routine #medtwitter PSA: Please call the ED when sending a patient from anywhere. It’s a #patientsafety issue. Poor communication is a top cause of medical errors every year. Don’t let it be your fault. Including nurses on triage, PCP, UC, specialists…Everyone!

Recently a pt visitor was giving history and had to stop to figure out what day it was, giggled and said: We're retired 🤷‍♀️ This morning I spent an entire minute debating is it Th or F and realized I will never readily know what day of the week it is, ever Shift work is weird

Calling thousands of fully trained medical professionals with decades more experience than you stupid on social media as a medical student is some kind of choice.

St. Louis doesn't need a Jefferson City-appointed board pushing politics into public safety. We need our state to implement commonsense gun safety regulations like red flag laws and universal background checks. missouriindependent.com/2023/04/24/pub…

That day in your life where you officially turned into your mother - It's today for me. Read the news, got angry, got up and wrote my state senator before even thinking about making coffee 🤦‍♀️ But what I wouldn't give to rant politics with her today and have her laugh at me 💔
