We are delighted to announce the formation of the Lytchett Bay Nature Partnership. Our aim is to connect people and nature around Lytchett Bay in Poole Harbour, Dorset. We are @harbourbirds @RSPBArne @DorsetWildlife @BoroughofPoole @LytMinUptonTC and the Lees Family
Many thanks to Wendy Sargeant for allowing us to share her mobile phone photos of the Slate-coloured Junco which visited our recording area last week. Keep looking it could turn up in your garden soon.
Justin Feltham of Kier Construction described the works at The Moors at Arne. They're building new embankments and will punch holes in the current defences to create a huge intertidal area. In 2 years Poole Harbour should have another fantastic wetland full of ducks and waders!
Thank you to all of our incredible speakers who made our "Nature's Recovery in Dorset" Conference so special yesterday. Almost 200 enthusiastic delegates enjoyed every minute and we all left with an extra spring and optimism in our step.
GWE and male Merlin around RLV #LytchettBay @NarwhalSh @harbourbirds
Thanks to Sarah Wall and @sue60hugh for their kind donations to the Lytchett Feeding Station Fund @LytchettP
Thanks to Eddie J(sorry couldn't find your twitter handle) for another kind donation to the Lytchett Feeding Fund, we'll get that Junco soon!!! @LytchettP
Residents of Upton (or Hamworthy) keep an eye out for something that looks like this in your garden over the coming weeks. An exceptionally rare Dark-eyed Junco (from North America) was seen in an Upton garden last weekend and could well still be around. @DorsetBirdClub
Upton residents please keep an eye on your bird feeders for a Dark-eyed Junco. Seen in a local garden last weekend but not since. It might have moved to yours. 🤞 See library pic from web attached. Please let us know if you see it. @harbourbirds @DorsetBirdClub

4 Avocet off Lytchett Bay View was a nice finish to the BARI pop-up this morning @harbourbirds @BirdsofBARI @NarwhalSh
Thank you to everyone who made this happen. 🙏
Definitely a feeling of more movement today with 2 Hawfinch over LBV, a Swallow passed RLV, 159 Redwing over and who doesn't love a Firecrest.
Nice to join the 2024 club. #LytchettBay @DorsetBirdClub @harbourbirds @ianballam
Late Reed Warbler but only that. #LytchettBay @harbourbirds @DorsetBirdClub @ianballam
Our feeding station is up and running for another winter #RSPBLytchettFields Thank you to everyone who donated equipment for our squirrel proof set up 🤞🙏& to those who have helped with cash and food 🙏. More donations welcome either to @ianballam or @NarwhalSh or DM.
This might be our last reminder, but we can't promise 😀More than 160 people are coming to our Jt conference with @_BTO on 16th Nov. Nature's Recovery in Dorset can't wait & nor can we! Who wants to hear 2ndhand what a great event they missed? Tickets here dorsetbirds.co.uk/conference/
An ambitious nature recovery project is happening right on your doorstep! Drop in at an event near you to discover more about what is planned and how you can get involved:
The new Turlin Moor viewing platform is taking shape. The morning light is superb from this location. The sunsets are not bad either. Whether you are watching wildlife or just having some quiet contemplation this will be a great facility #LytchettBay. @harbourbirds
Some record shots of the splendid male Black Redstart around the edge of my garden this afternoon. Still present a dusk though the accompanying female/imm became more elusive. My last here was in 2008 and its a rare bird around #LytchettBay @harbourbirds @DorsetBirdClub
