Expert’s dilemma: An increase in a scientist’s abilities for creative interdisciplinary thinking is almost inevitably linked to a loss in expertise and thus credibility in their home field, reducing the acceptability of the work to their peers genomebiology.biomedcentral.com/articles/10.11…

Next time you write a cold email to a scientist, try nerd sniping them (xkcd.com/356/) Many good scientists _love_ interesting problems.

What would Plato say about systems biology? In his Allegory of the Cave, prisoners can only see shadows on a wall and so they have a distorted reality. Also our measurements of genes, RNAs, proteins & metabolites are the shadows, not the reality of the complex biological systems.

Such a large number of replicated and diverse blood biomarkers that differentiate ME cases from controls should now dispel any lingering perception that ME is psychosomatic This was a fab collaboration including @AvaKhamseh, @nshejazi and Sjoerd Beentjes. 4/4
