Our year 1 students are investigating forces of motion by exploring their priced possessions - toys. How does it move? What do you have to do to make it work? How does it work? We heard some great conversations and vocabulary that helps with their prior knowledge @GJS_Society

Our bird feeders are up. Our children are curious. Will the birds come? Will they eat all the food? What if there is no more food? What if they don’t like it? Cannot wait to see the #inquiry that will take place. @AISEgyptMain

While the new research is important, it takes nothing away from the work Lucy Caulkins has done to give students and teachers voice and choice. Empowering students to become authors is vital for developing the motivation to both read & write. via @NYTimes nytimes.com/2022/05/22/us/…

It's been awhile since I have posted a blog but was feeling inspired to address struggles that some teachers have when it comes to using thinking routines powerfully. Here it is: ronritchhart.com/blog/thinking-…

While supporting a classroom this morning, two five year olds approached me and said,'I am so frustrated. Julia is not listening to us. We tried saying STOP, I don't like that, STOP again. I need help.' Well done to our counselors for helping our students express themselves. #SEL

As an educator, I appreciate every opportunity to make a teachable moment. Hence I was super happy and proud to engage with this class where the Valentine’s Day cards were all about writing and reading by sounding out words and not about who got more. @AISEgyptMain #earlyyears

What happens when you integrate science with Readers and Writers workshop? Result: super excited and motivated students who couldn’t stop writing and sharing their experience through their stories. #earlyyears @AISEgyptMain

Starting our PD with the most important topic because every child deserves to feel safe, happy, loved, protected, secure and special. Keeping safeguarding at the core of what we do. @earlyyears @AISEgyptMain

So proud of my kindergarten students for publishing their readers and writers books. This time last year they were reviewing phonics. This is proof that students need consistency in their learning. #earlyyears @AISEgyptMain

Counselor on the move!! Why sit behind the desk when you can take the desk with you. Being more visible. Love the idea. #earlyyears @AISEgyptMain

I know we talk about translanguaging as a way for students to learn content. That's NOT enough. Translanguaging is about strengthening students' connections to their culture through language.
