🚨The authorities have closed the eruption area. ✈️ The recent volcanic eruption is located in an isolated area, posing no risk to the average visitor. Air traffic and all major attractions across Iceland remain open and fully accessible.

🚨🌋Yet another eruption has begun just north of the Icelandic town of Grindavík after a flurry of now recognisable precursory seismic activity. (Remember: these episodic fissure eruptions are going to happen for years, probably decades, on this peninsula!)

🌋 New eruption on the Reykjanes Peninsula last night at 9:26 PM, following an earlier earthquake. 📍Location: Sundhnukar. Air travel is unaffected, and all services operate as usual. Iceland’s preparedness keeps us safe! 📷 Almannavarnir #IcelandVolcano #grindavik #lavacentre

An eruption has just started on the Sundhnukagigaröð, just east of Mt. Sýlingarfell. Grindavík has been evacuated. The eruption looks similar to the last one. 📷 RÚV / Þorgils Jónsson

The Icelandic Met Office has stated that the probability of an eruption within the next 7-10 days is highly likely. If you are planning to the Blue Lagoon, you may want to wait to purchase those tickets. You can follow the updates here. vedur.is/um-vi/frettir/…

Updated at 06:32 The ring road at Skálmabridge has been opened with the restriction that the road is single-lane. Traffic will be controlled. Drivers are asked to be considerate and respect the signs. umferdin.is/en

The Icelandic MET Office has recorded multiple M2.9 earthquakes at Katla over the last 48 hours. These tremors are likely linked to the ongoing glacial outburst but do not indicate an imminent eruption. Visit LAVA Centre in Hvolsvöllur to know more. lavacentre.is/live/latest-ea…

Jökulhlaup from Mýrdalsjökull (Katla) update- -Ringroad breached at east foundation of the Skalma bridge, which can be under threat itself -Bigger jökulhlaup as in 2011 -Possiblity of a small subglacial eruption as cause -Optic fibre cable from Míla broke

Right now the Ring Road is closed East of Vik due to Jokulhlaups (glacial runoffs) taking out the roads. You can follow live updates here at RUV's news website. ruv.is/frettir/innlen…

The Met Office has released their newest update on the hazard map and are expecting an eruption in the coming weeks. They have updated safety procedures and evacuation measures on their website as well. en.vedur.is/about-imo/news…

The most recent findings from the Met Office indicate that the magma chamber has reached 13 million cubic meters of magma which is the lower limit of the chamber. This leads scientists to predict that the next eruption is likely in the next three to four weeks.

Here is the latest hazard report from the Icelandic Met Office. Very similar to last week with Zone 1 being reduced by one stage due to decreased uplift. You can follow this link to follow along with updates from the Met Office: en.vedur.is/about-imo/news…

It appears that the ground inflation around Svartsengi is consistent with previous eruptions and that another eruption will most likely occur in the coming weeks/months. Read more here: en.vedur.is/about-imo/news…

Looks like we're getting ready for another eruption at Sundhnúkagígum between Grindavík and the Blue Lagoon. Landrise is picking up again in the area.

"Hægt landris" virðist ekki lengur hægt eftir að gosinu lauk. Sýnist allt stefna í annað gos í sumar 👀 GPS mælar við Skipastígshraun og Eldvörp
