NEW: An NYT investigation has found that scores of Hasidic Jewish schools in New York are purposely denying some 50,000 students a basic secular education – and have received $1 billion in taxpayer dollars over the last 4 years. w/ @brianmrosenthal nytimes.com/2022/09/11/nyr…

It's rare, but every once in a while one falls in love with an ed tech product. When it came to Mathigon, it was love at first polygon for me and the team at Amplify... I am so delighted we are joining forces. Expect big - and intricate little - things!

what is with this tendency in the ed sector towards terrible, redundant modifiers? i.e., "strategic leadership," "transformational innovation," and "dramatically better?"
Maybe it wasn’t such a great idea to reduce the number of classes that teach civics, democracy and American history?
In 1964 a Black and Jewish man fighting for civil rights in the south were murdered for their leadership. Today a Black and Jewish man fighting for civil rights in the south were made US Senators for their leadership. “Let freedom ring from Stone Mountain of Georgia” indeed

An educator from Oakland Unified Schools District shared this image with me. The air feels lighter as they start school this week. The future brighter. Our POTUS and VP elect will continue a path that’s been carved by the fortitude of others. Some even as young as six.

I spoke to an old therapist friend today, and finally understood why everyone’s so exhausted after the video calls. It’s the plausible deniability of each other’s absence. Our minds tricked into the idea of being together when our bodies feel we’re not. Dissonance is exhausting.
