xG is good, but it's designed from the shooter's perspective. xS is similar but approaches the shot from the goalie's perspective
Did a correlation heatmap analysis regarding passing metrics since they aren't in NHL play-by-play and found that while passes leading to high-danger chances are still valuable, passes leading to mid-danger chances are just as if not more valuable than high-danger chances.
Doing some # research that suggests that quantity mid-danger chances contribute more to outcomes than quality high-danger chances. In other words, assuming shot-models are accurate, it's more important to get shots on net than it is to drive for low-slot chances. Interesting.
