Creativity in your organization requires the right conditions, for people to thrive. Your team is a living, changing, growing system - and it deserves leaders who focus on the environment and people instead of demanding outcomes.

Creative teams with a culture of experimentation know how to separate divergent thinking (list as many ideas as possible) and convergent thinking (narrow down the list). Creative leaders empower when they lead alongside, facilitating ideas instead of solving all the problems.

Creative teams with resilience understand that we never think alone. We are interconnected with all of those we have learned from when we solve problems. Resilient teams work together to strengthen connection points, coordinating with trust.

Creative resilience in teams comes from creating a safe environment to fail forward. Feeling like it’s safe to fail encourages learning. A culture of experimentation and testing is a vital aspect of resilient organizations.

Diversity not only leads to new creative capacity, it’s also an important environmental principle for resilience to emerge. Connecting with voices from ‘thinking partners who aren’t echo chambers’. With broader diversity comes greater resilience + creativity.

Creative teams should feel inspired, take ownership, always be growing, support each other and have the freedom to learn from getting it wrong the first time. Creative leaders who encourage these beliefs and nurture a culture of experimentation will unleash unforeseen potential.

Don’t use your energy to worry! Use your energy to believe, to create, to learn, to think, and to grow. 🧠

Creativity is an outcome, not a resource to exploit. All organizations could benefit from leaders who set the conditions for the outcomes, nurturing and making adjustments to their own practices and behaviours in order for their teams to flourish.
