On this front there will be a push from now until the Spending Review. Advocates of community ownership - which can, I think, create change people can see and feel - need to meet the Chancellor's challenge.
For a Labour government in particular it is important that resource sits alongside new powers.
There was some acknowledgement of this in the Budget. An omission that is concerning is the lack of announcement on the Community Ownership Fund which helps save at risk assets people care about, or what funding might follow it.
I think Duncan overlooks the brightness that our cities local entrepreneurs give us and for whom space is being eaten up, exploited & turned either into unimaginative state led failures such as Hackney Walk or similar clone town steel and glass like the looming Truman Brewery.

Since the Budget I've been thinking about what the government needs to do for change to be felt whilst it waits for reforms + investment to have an impact. I think focusing on the 'little things that matter' as @georgeeaton highlighted and the fabric of local areas is important.

.@TfL wants to remove Len’s case from a conversation on Social Value. The case is symptomatic of system that erodes communities by collaborating with privately owned @thearchcompany on market evidence for highest rents. Many Guild members living on the edge of not making rent.

A responsible solution is a @TfL policy for Social Value Leases that would protect and not destroy our most socially, environmentally and culturally valuable businesses that local people need. Many London councils already do this including @IslingtonBC
