Writers: I'm commissioning for the May/ June issue of Selamta, the magazine for Ethiopian Airlines. Original stories based in an African country or with an African connection: trends; interviews; features with a compelling human angle. Timely hooks essential. 1/2 #journorequest

Choosing whether to stay in an American major city one extra day is literally choosing whether or not you want to spend $400 extra. Between housing, food and entertainment, it’s crazy expensive!

Dear @vonderleyen @RishiSunak @Bundeskanzler @POTUS, unprecedented extreme weather events are wreaking havoc on communities. It's time for action! Will you commit to doubling climate adaptation funding by 2025? #ClimateAction

To put this into perspective, receiving healthcare as a woman in Alabama can be incredibly difficult — and dangerous, especially if you are a Black women. Alabama has the third-highest maternal mortality rate in the nation. I wrote about it here: projects.apnews.com/features/2023/…

Alabama’s attorney general said the state can prosecute people who help women travel out of state for abortions al.com/news/2023/08/a…

I started The Inside Lane to amplify the voices of Black Track & Field athletes. My approach focuses on positivity & empowerment, period! Filmed this in Zurich today with Shericka Jackson (@sherickajacko ) & @Anthonique_ - it speaks to the huge deficit in Athletics media today.

Trump is not neck and neck with Biden. There’s an entire industry & professional ecosystem that relies on pretending presidential races are “close”

Man more people need to report the news like the Popi Show. She’s trying to make it to Ghana from Gabon but she got caught up in a coup!

The only mocker quoted in this story is Ald. Ray Lopez who conservative media is clearly platforming to enflame polarizing issues. No new information or reporting was done. It could have been an Op-Ed.

I live within walking distance of three dollar stores and one grocery store.

That the racist Jacksonville murders of Black people, by a white man, happened at a Dollar General store adds on another layer of trauma. These stores intentionally target Black communities with lower cost, non-nutritious food. Their existence makes our communities less healthy.
