I still like Bode with Gabriela. What she said at end is one of the few times I disagree with her #FireCountry
If swimmers are all knees or all hips, it just doesn’t work. Instant feedback.
The breaststroke pull is very different from the other strokes, yet it’s incredibly similar. The set up of the stroke has a lot more lateral motion due to the narrow start of the pull, & the end of the pull has a lot more lateral motion due to forward recovery of the arms.
Faster underwater kickers have a better upkick. It’s been shown over and over in research, using really fast underwater kickers as subjects. And if you watch your swimmers, you’ll see that better underwater kickers have a FAST upkick AND great range of motion in the upkick.
I'm proud of who I voted for here in Montgomery County OH: US Prez: 🟦 US Senate: 🟦 US House: 🟦 State House: 🟦 @roseforohio State Senate: 🟦 @willisb_jr State Supreme Court: 🟦🟦🟦 Issue 1: ✅
Voting for Rose is consistent if you voted against Issue 1 in August 2023
Hey voters living in Ohio #HD36, let's send @roseforohio to Columbus to have our public schools funded by the state government. This way we don't have to rely on levies as much
It’s a lot easier to squeeze into the body when the chest lifts as compared to when the body stays flat, especially when the arms aren’t being pulled all the way back.
By lifting the chest during the breaststroke pull, swimmers can create more leverage on the water, and they can use the muscles of the upper body more effectively.
By having swimmers keep the non-working arm down, the body tends to undulate through a much large range of motion. For swimmers that are struggling to feel how the kick timing impact the rhythm & the position of the hips, this extra range of motion can really help them feel it.
One arm buttefly is a simple way for swimmers to understand the timing of the arms and the legs. The rhythm is the same as full stroke butterfly, but it’s much easier to perform. The legs kick when the hand enter and when they exit.
One reason is that lifting the chest makes the pull more powerful, and that means more speed.
Why don’t breaststrokers ever take strokes without breathing? By keeping the head lower (still breaking the surface to stay legal), swimmers should be able to keep resistance lower and swim faster. It makes sense, but it’s hardly every used. Why?
This is a more advanced version, with the arms wide and the legs straight. The goal is not perfection, but progress. It’s the struggle that stimulates learning.
