A descendant of the OvaHerero who were banished into exile in 1904 following Germany's Extermination Order. Suffering from cultural genocide: lost language and all, but still a proud OmuHerero living in Botswana.

Two successful conferences held this week, organized and carried by the Ovaherero Traditional Authority in Swakopmund, Namibia. 1. Ovaherero Genocide Conference, 2. Ovaherero Claims Conference.

5th generation descendant of the Herero genocide victims living in South Africa, Mr Gontse Bareki, says his only source of Hereroness and pride is founded on the Herero hymns they still can sing, without understanding a word. 101th genocide commemoration, Namibia 20.07.2024.

Questions are being raised about where I stand with this or that political party, my response is simple: my Office is non-partisan, therefore I play NO active role in party politics be it in Botswana, RSA, USA, Canada, UK, Germany, Angola or Namibia where Ovaherero are citizens.

In remembrance of the victims of the Ovaherero genocide whose bones are scattered at Oviuombo, 150km east of Windhoek, Namibia. I laid a wreath on the road shoulder cos Oviuombo is part of the 70% farmlands owned by German settlers after land expropriation decree on 26 Dec 1905.

Descendants of Ovaherero genocide victims living in South Africa participated in the HereroFest in Okahandja, Namibia. It was a historic pilgrimage back to their roots 120 years since their great grandparents were driven out of Ehi rOvaherero by the German schutztruppe.

Feb 5, OvaHerero First Lady, chief Tjingaete, Mabaza @bondeko, @simoneknapp, community leaders and I spent the day with Ovitoto elder and centenarian Mazeingo at his home. Mazeingo's mother was fathered by the German schutztruppe. His grandmother survived the concentration camps.

Germanic history is punctuated with crimes of genocides and war crimes. No wonder she supports the genocide of Palestinians. Namibia is morally right to rally behind South Africa, but hypocritical to support Germany in denying the Herero and Nama peoples reparations.

It was a pleasure to engage an enthusiastic audience on matters of the Herero and Nama genocides, and our common future with German citizens, at the conference: "Afrika und Deutschland: Anatomie einer komplexen Beziehung am Beispiel der Ovaherero" held in Mannheim, Germany.

UN CERD is concerned about the lack of: The Ovaherero and Nama direct participation in the so-called state to state negotiations about bilateral development programs between Namibia and Germany, camouflaged as reparations for Herero and Nama genocides (08.12.2023). @SG_CARICOM

The Ovaherero and Nama message is consistent: no negotiations for the Herero and Nama genocides can take place without the direct participation of genocide victims. Below: meeting held with SPD MPs on Dec 1st, 2023, Berlin.

Today, Ombara Tjingaete and I visited one of the elderly councilors of the Ovaherero Traditional Authority, Mr Kaindjee. He is very pleased that the Authority recently adopted a modern constitution to govern the affairs of the Herero people.
