I’ve seen a lot of posts about not paying for an editor especially if you are #amquerying but here’s the thing: sometimes you can learn a lot from an editor. IF you ARE going to hire an editor, these are some things to keep in mind re developmental editing 1/8 #WritingCommmunity
I was among those 50 reviews, and honestly feedback from @KathrynHAuthor helped me A LOT! I completely rewrote my prologue and whole first chapter, and now I'm finally happy how it all looks. Altho, the impostor syndrome is strong as ever 😅
#amquerying writers with low or no success wondering if it’s the timing or your work? In the last few weeks, I completed 50 opening pages reviews and found that most of them needed moderate to significant development. Reflections below ⬇️ 1/7 #WritingCommunity
Before I start querying, just wanted to send a huge thank you to those who reviewed different elements of my materials—@annie_m_morgan, @hmteachout, @KathrynHAuthor, and @RowanBrightonB Four lovely, generous members of the writing community. Take note, #amquerying friends!🤗💗
The annoying thing about line edits is changing a line to make it better and then finding you wrote near enough the same thing two lines later 🙄
Really valuable advice for finding the right editor for you.

I was so fortunate to have the amazing @KathrynHAuthor look over some of my writing, and her feedback and suggestions were so incredibly helpful and uplifting. If anyone is in need of a brilliant editor, I highly recommend reaching out to her. 🤩 Thanks again, Kathryn! ❤️
Great thread from a wonderful contributor to the #WritingCommunity! You do not HAVE to pay for editorial services, there are plenty of free resources. But you also CAN seek out additional feedback or professional guidance. Do what’s best for you and let others do that too.

Excellent thread! I want to add that a good editor fit for you will focus on making the book *more* of what you love, and communicating that more effectively to the audience, rather than changing your story or voice into something else.
