Blend Online and In-class Discussions to Give Every Student a Voice - catlintucker.com/2017/01/blend-…

A5b: To me, branding connects very strongly to the idea of a digital footprint. Badges can help validate online learning and experiences and leave tracks of a student's growth and performance over time - increasing his/her brand. #edtechchat

A8: Competition is valuable for some kids and detrimental for others. Going back to A5, 6, and 7, building a positive classroom culture and modeling empathy can help make competition in the classroom more meaningful. #LearnLAP

A5a: A teaching/edu brand helps to connect you with other like minded Ts and learners. It provides more options for self-selected PD and just increases overall awareness. #edtechchat

A4b: Since I work mostly with littles, their exposure is largely limited to what I share with them. If I don't provide them with multiple options, it's hard for them to have real choice. #edtechchat

A4a: Loyalty to a tool (and its corresponding brand) can certainly add to a Ts overall brand - for instance, Google or Microsoft certs - but it can be easy to get stuck. Blind loyalty can lead to complacency. #edtechchat

A6: Creating a positive and encouraging classroom climate at the BOY creates a space for students to truly engage with one another. This can be done through conversations and read alouds. #LearnLAP

A3b: I always talk to my Ss about "using their powers for good" - they have all of these resources that can influence their digital footprint and, relatedly, brand. I encourage Ss to choose wisely! #edtechchat

A3a: I think tool and resource selection is part of the T's brand. It should be thoughtful, purposeful, and connected. #edtechchat

A5: I am pretty good at recognizing organic opportunities to address non-curricular/life skills as they emerge, but I could be more intentional about creating time for these conversations. #LearnLAP

A4: This requires so much explicit instruction with little ones. Sentence stems, conversation starters, and lots of modeling. This is something I'm constantly working on. Also, giving them the opportunity to practice! #LearnLAP

A2b: My Ss would agree. They know that, at the end of the day, they matter deeply and that I am there for them. Clarifying this with them is huge. ASK! #edtechchat

YES. We must take the time to create a safe and encouraging classroom culture in which it is safe to experiment and to fail! #LearnLAP

This is the hardest. @BreneBrown always says that we have to remember our kids come into the world hardwired for struggle. Our job as adults is not to prevent failure, but to create space where they belong and are loved. Period. #learnlap

A2a: If I had a brand, it would be warm, engaging, relational, and student-centered. I want my Ss and their parents to know that the student is the driving factor in my classroom. #edtechchat
