Hurricanes aren’t only disasters for homeowners—new research shows that renters are hit hard, and sometimes forced out of their homes, after a storm, Olivia Ferrari writes for @hakaimagazine: theatlantic.com/science/archiv…

not the oriole bird up there like he's also an elected official

Gov. Wes Moore is here at the B&O Warehouse at Camden Yards. In an hour, the Board of Public Works is expected to formally approve an Orioles lease. “The deal is done,” Moore says.

"Destroying 1,500 Black residents homes to build a highway was good, actually" is a pretty trash take.

I just heard a "the highway to nowhere is good and it would have been better for west baltimore if they actually built the entire system" take downstairs at Brewers and my soul may have just left my body

The man who killed Jordan Neely wasn’t protecting himself. He was empowered by a cultural movement that has normalized regular citizens deputizing themselves as judges and executioners in the name of white supremacy. Infamously this also happened in another period of US history

It’s so funny to me that Fox is on one hand like “ahhh so many murders, Baltimore is a failed state” and then on the other hand like “ahhh a tool statistically proven to reduce murders is actually bad bc LBH and CC wont let us stalk and harass their employees 😡”

This is not some scandalous, undemocratic thing — this is literally just…how government funded services work 🙈

3 | Safe Streets isn't actually a function of Baltimore City government. Instead, the City partners with community-based organizations, or CBOs, to administer the program. That means Safe Streets "violence interrupters" aren't City employees, but rather employees of each CBO.
