This is an utter disgrace. Frank is v gracious in the way he explains the story. I don’t think I would have been so composed. “I had to crawl to plane toilet' - BBC's Frank Gardner bbc.com/news/articles/…

As we salute our @womatrust trainees, my co-founders & fellow trustees all ex BBC journalists @DennehyN and Mike Wooldridge, prepare to mark 20 years in 2025 since we established our little charity. Our mission -simpy to try to address a big need - creating #female #entrepreneurs

A fantastic start for a new intake of Ugandan #women embarking on their WOMA sponsored training. We were so impressed during the recruitment round we conducted in August and wish all the students the very best as they take the first steps towards becoming #fashion#entrepreneurs.

Yesterday some of our new students arrived at Namasuba College of Commerce after making the long journey from their homes in Eastern Uganda. Today they’ll be joined by 7 women from the Kampala area & will begin their 6 month course in fashion & design. We wish them well.

My heart goes out to #Uganda #Cheptegei family - utterly sickening story of #gender based violence. I had the privilege of spending time at the training camp where the athletes train back in my bbc days and it is so humbling. It has stayed with me for ever bbc.com/news/articles/…

I'm careful what I amplify online but can we really take this analysis seriously ?? SA still has a robust media landscape -we neglect it at our peril. Lets be less parochal and put SA in a global context when it comes to preserving #media integrity iol.co.za/sundayindepend…

As soon as "non-western" funders start to champion journalism where reporters don't get jailed or disappeared for surfacing stories uncomfortable to the authorities I'm ready to listen. V sad that in #SouthAfrica discussions about #journalism get drenched in polemical chatter.

Is it just me or is @SantanderUK incompetent beyond belief? Very much hoping their public affairs team sees this and DMs me as I’m meeting multiple customers with similar concerns.@Santandernews hoping comms team more responsive than customer service.

Fascinating and important work Laura. Great to see you driving this.

Fine day for a conference ⁦@V_and_A⁩ on the Public Country House - some grand homes in the UK were at least partly financed with $ from slavery. Will talk about the importance of public access to records from the period of slavery - so crucial to descendants of the enslaved

Shining a light on what should be happening in democracies #globally if the party you support doesn’t deliver. I belong to neither but it’s a practical example as #elections beckon in many countries around the world. Service delivery and leadership matter. bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politi…

Very sobering reading on what’s happening to the UK’s defence priorities & impact on other commitments eg health. “A political arms race” indeed is emerging focusing on defence. Some great observations from my former #bbc colleague ⁦@ChrisMasonBBC bbc.co.uk/news/uk-688852…

At least 97 reporters, 92 of them Palestinian, have been killed since the start of the war in Gaza. "They are bearing the brunt of the reporting. They are reporting the war and living the war," @jodieginsberg tells @AliRogin

JUST IN: Judge Nkosinathi Chili has removed former President Jacob Zuma’s private prosecution against state advocate Billy Downer and myself from the court roll. Thank you so much @BenWinks and @CharlduPlessc!

I don’t quite understand how one gets to negotiate whether one is arrested or not. I’m clearly a v naive person but on what planet?

Very interesting read …could video conferencing provide source material for deepfake creators? Chilling prospect AND Who should be calling them out - the platforms or consumers? Tackling #deepfakes 'has turned into an arms race' bbc.co.uk/news/business-…

Hairs standing up on the back of my neck reading this….. Russian opposition leader Navalny has died, prison service says bbc.co.uk/news/world-eur…

Terribly sad news. Steve Write in the afternoon was an institution. @BBC has lot one of its greats. Condolences to colleagues, family and friends.

Such a shock. I loved radio from a young age, and #SteveWright was one of those presenters who was always there. Even saw him at the Radio 1 Roadshow (remember those?!) by Eastbourne Pier in the 80s! I’m very sad for his family. ⁦@BBCRadio2bbc.co.uk/news/entertain…

Absolutely love this @BBCSteveR what a great tribute.

As a kid I loved listening to the BBC World Service (on 648 kHz I think). For a 10-year-old from Chingford it was a very special window on the world. So, for World Radio Day, I play some classic @bbcworldservice signature tunes. #WorldRadioDay
