When we have research telling us that 90% of Aboriginal women are not disclosing their experiences of domestic and family violence and being 11 times more likely to die from assault at the hands of perpetrators, we are shamefully failing.
I’ll quote the words of Aunty Pat Anderson AO in relation to the David Crisafuilli’s decision (abc.net.au/news/2024-10-3…, ABC, 31 Oc), & she’s been saying this for decades, “Indigenous people are used as a political football” & “a political football game with no rules”.
I hope that one day, feminism can progress to the point where the moral ambiguities or failures of one woman are no longer seen to refute the rights and dignity claims of all women.

Just take Sure Start Centres – a recent report by the IFS found that access to a centre for young children resulted in better GCSE results ten or more years later. For children from the poorest backgrounds, the positive effects were six times higher.
